Build effects inside your project mindset
Think of MegaSFX as part of the song, not a souvenir from another website. Generate the clip, name it with the song title, and park it in the same folder as the stems.
Working toward one MegaMix AI project keeps versions from multiplying as whoosh_final_FINAL.wav on the desktop.
If you generate after the mix is mastered, you will often need to remaster. Place FX before the mix pass when you can.
Export stems with effects printed
When FX are arrangement, include them in the stems you send for AI mixing — either printed on groups or as a dedicated FX stem.
A separate FX stem is better if you might ask MegaMix AI to lower the riser without touching drums.
Do not hide a loud whoosh inside the drum stem and then wonder why the kick pumps.
Print FX from bar zero at the same sample rate as drums. High-pass the stem at 120 Hz if you already mixed kick and 808 separately. Leave 3–6 dB of peak headroom on the FX stem so MegaMix AI can still ride a 1-second 140 BPM trap whoosh without clipping the master.
Use Josh across tools
In MegaSFX, Josh tweaks the clip: shorter, darker, less hiss. In MegaMix AI, Josh (mix chat) balances the song: lower the riser in the verse, keep the vocal forward.
Plain language works in both places. Name the section and the problem.
Do not ask mix-Josh to invent a whoosh that does not exist in the stems. Generate it in MegaSFX first.
Finish the song, not just the sound
Custom FX mean nothing if the mix never ships. Send to MegaMix AI, iterate, export a WAV.
Completed songs build catalog and skill. Another generate does not.

A real workflow: from MegaSFX generate to MegaMix export
Song is a 3-minute pop-rap single. You need a pre-chorus whoosh and a chorus impact, then a mix.
Two tools that are live: MegaSFX and MegaMix AI.
- Generate both clips at megamixai.com/megasfx. Refine with Josh. Download.
- Place on an FX track in your DAW. Trim, high-pass, automate.
- Export stems with shared bar zero, FX as its own stereo stem.
- Upload to megamixai.com/app. Ask to keep the lead vocal clear through the whoosh.
- Export the mix WAV. If the whoosh disappeared, raise the FX stem and rerun rather than stacking a second generate.
- Prompt the whoosh as short trap whoosh, 1 second, no sub, 96 BPM pre-chorus and the hit as short punchy impact, 0.4 seconds. High-pass both at 160 Hz. In mix chat, name the bar: whoosh in last bar of pre-chorus, hit on chorus beat 1.
Send-to-mix checklist
Most FX-in-mix failures are stem hygiene, not the generator.
If FX are printed on every stem, you cannot revise them.
- FX named and saved with the song
- Peaks aligned before export
- FX stem or clearly printed groups
- No mastered bounce used as the only upload
- Mix notes mention the transition bars
- FX stem high-passed if 808s already own sub
- Whoosh and hit generated as separate clips, not one cinematic stack

Pitfall: mixing a song, mastering it, then dragging a new whoosh on top of the master. The limiter will squash the drop. Go back to stems.

Should FX be on separate stems?
Separate is better if you expect mix revisions on the whoosh or hit alone.
Do I need to master after adding FX?
Yes if FX change overall balance or crest factor. Re-check loudness and clarity in MegaMix AI.

Can I add MegaSFX after a MegaMix mix?
You can, but you should remaster. Adding a transient on a limited master often distorts the drop.
Should I wait for Lyrix before this workflow?
